120: Activating Creativity & Wisdom

The flow of energy up the spine from the root to the brain where consciousness lives must first cross the bridge from the heart to the head. This makes the throat an incredible touch stone of power and creativity. Opening the flow of energy here allows us to move between the physical and nonphysical and express what we make of that eternal oscillation. Speaking our truths is the quickest way to spread our innate divine light and share our gifts with the world. I invite you to experience this meditation to affirm your power to do just that…

Next, you are invited to use the power to speak your truth to communicate with your inner wisdom and make the flow of life balanced between the physical and eternal. Some of us are born with the third eye open and it guides us through challenges effortlessly until our lives and loves teach us fear and separation and this chakra closes up. We all have the ability to strengthen the flow of energy through the space in the front of our brains, between our two physical eyes, and I would like to share a process taught to me by renowned intuitive author, Sofia

1. Come back to the present moment and feel it. Set the intention to be receptive and notice how the “right-wrong” paradigm is dualistic and biased. Choose to receive information about what’s true for you instead of what’s right.

2. What can you see? Shift your attention to diffuse and immersed instead of narrow and focused. This is called Open Focus and activates synchronous brain waves which scientists have connected to a state of well-being and flow.

3. What are you afraid of in this situation? Acknowledge fears and name them as they rise up. Continue to answer the question until they stop flowing, and they will. Realize that all fear comes from the misconception that you are a discrete entity, separated from the rest of the universe.

4. Trust that intuition is always with you and your inner wisdom will speak in a way that physically feels relaxed and true. Once you’ve become detached from the idea of a “correct” answer, your inner wisdom will speak in a way unique to you.

Intuition comes alive when we listen deeply. (1) Today in the stillness of meditation as we quietly listen, we awaken and invite a powerful shift into our lives. (2) The fog of confusion begins to clear, we can see where we are going, and discover our true purpose. It is easier to make decisions when we have comprehensive vision—when we can trust ourselves and the universe. (3) Our meditation today will align us with this ever-present source, lighting our path each step of the way. (4)    -Deepak Chopra

Day 94: What Is Enlightnement?

Where Heavens Meet

Where Heavens Meet by Rassouli (Click for Gallery)

Who cares? Really.

Personally, I say: think of your ideal self, the perfect image of health, wealth, and happiness, cut it in half, and that’s the threshold mystics call “enlightenment;” chances are you’re closer than you think.

The unattainable image teachers have painted for centuries of spiritual attainment was meant to keep seekers from idealizing or focusing on something outside of the daily experience and missing the present moment. While that is important, it is also important to recognize how discouraging that is in our modern era of instant gratification and ease. I think it is important to validate my friends and loved ones that they are succeeding as en-lightened beings (people who give off higher quantities of divine light) as often as I push them to try harder. There needs to be a balance.

As for the enlightened person’s moods, which are always the ordinary person’s undoing, they are said to be peaceful, secure, and blissful. Other emotions such as anger or fear may arise in response to the needs of the environment, but do not shake the deeper stillness. An analogy is that you are in a state a bit like the one a child enjoys when playing in the yard while aware that Mother is at home. The child does not think about the mother, yet her presence makes the child feel more secure, able to play wholeheartedly, and more likely to feel cheerful and see beauty in everything.

– Elaine Aron Ph.D.

This is a feeling we can all resonate with, even me, a child who never felt the archetypical “loving mother” sensation and it is comforting for a number of reasons. Firstly we know that, grounded in happiness and joy, we are free to move through the entire range of emotions embodied in the human experience and always return to a calm center. Secondly, fear becomes easily negated with a closely held happiness and third, our freedom allows us unlimited growth, unchecked by fear.

Enlightenment is a feeling we can all recognize and it is something we can all touch. Grounding ourselves in peaceful, secure and blissful emotions using an infinite number of tools – art, music, meditation, love-making, yoga, observing nature, etc. – is all it takes to move toward the deep stillness of a child who moves through life rooted in the present moment. Emotions are the gateway to enlightenment: understand that they come and go and realize that you have the freedom to choose your home base and the whole world will become as carefree and safe as your own back yard.

How do you define enlightenment? Are there different definitions or do you believe in a standard one? What do you think is the path to enlightenment and is it even attainable? Let’s start a conversation.

Day 89: A Love Note To The Sky

Querido Cielo,

In Spanish it’s common to use the word “cielo” instead of “dear” or “love.” It means “sky” but it’s used in the same sense as we use “honey” and it has an even lovelier significance. You are my sky: the space to which I look for inspiration, comfort, and joy. You are the thing that is actually a place. You are the place that appears far away, but from which I am never separate. Nothing can change that, ever. I hope to always, in every moment act in full awareness of that truth and promise to become better at it every day in exchange for your eternally patient understanding. Thank you for being.

Your Lover,

¿Sí, cielo?
